Bastart - Musician, Creator, Thinker

Bastian Neumann, before he woke up to BASTART, began his musical journey as the guitarist of Shangri-la, a newcomer band that won the emerging artist slot at the Open Flair Festival in Eschwege in 1990. Over the years, he deepened his passion for music through various band projects, music retreats, and training programs, where he also contributed as a course instructor.

As a dedicated guitar teacher, he not only refined his own skills but also helped others grow musically. Around 2010, he expanded his creative expression through his YouTube channels Bastian Neumann and 0NonZens0, where he has since shared over 300 vlogs and videos exploring complex interpersonal, social, and psychological issues, such as depressionand post-traumatic stress disorder, which he himself is affected by.

Musical Identity: From The Bitterchild to BASTART

Following the birth of his son - and even in the years leading up to it - he began channeling his need for musical self-expression and creative fulfillment in a new way: by experimenting with a loop station for the first time. This marked the beginning of his early experimental compositions under the name The Bitterchild, a project in which he laid bare his innermost emotions through music.

Since The Bitterchild was more of a deeply personal dialogue with himself, these introspective works initially remained largely unheard. However, as can be clearly recognized in Bastart, these early creations -born from his own process of self-discovery, later became a rich, creative reservoir of inspiration, fueling the evolution of his distinctive musical identity.

A LOVE OF ART

The birth of a new art(ist)

Then came an encounter that shattered everything he thought he knew. an explosive, heart-flaming, soul-melting collision with Carina. She saw him, completely, effortlessly dissolving every wall he had ever built. With nothing but unconditional love and care, she became a mirror in which he could finally see himself fully, freely, without restraint. In her, he found the very forces that had always driven him: the urge to unfold, to communicate, to exchange ideas, and to expand horizons. And in the undeniable truth of her love, those forces found their ultimate confirmation.

At the same time, this collide also became a moment of awakening for Carina, opening her to a deeper understanding of her very own perspective on life, empowering her to unfold her own tools of expression. Together, they share the rare good fortune of harmonizing perfectly - in every dimension of connection: interpersonal, physical, intellectual, emotional, and artistic.

Musically, Bastart’s evolution is marked by his experimental approach, embracing chaos as a foundation for artistic creation. Initially performing under the name The Bitterchild, he has since released 41 powerful songs as Bastart, available on major music platforms.
